SCAD fall exhibitions in Atlanta feature faculty talent and New York artist Kyung Jeon

ATLANTA - The Savannah College of Art and Design's upcoming early fall exhibitions in Atlanta showcase an exciting line-up of visual artists and a diverse range of works, all varying in materials, subject matter and style. SCAD's Trois Gallery hosts New York artist Kyung Jeon's first solo exhibition in the Southeast. Two other exhibitions feature works by SCAD's talented and innovative faculty members.  All exhibitions and receptions are free and open to the public.

"Mischief and Melancholy" Exhibition by Kyung Jeon

For her first solo exhibition in the Southeast, New York-based artist Kyung Jeon presents a series of works exploring the themes of love and loss.  Jeon's paintings playfully depict the dual aspects of love where feverish titillation, mischief and melancholy coexist. These childlike characters embody the mature voyage one takes in traversing the high and low points of love.

SCAD's exhibitions department presents "Ornament," painting professor Kent Knowles' first solo exhibition at SCAD Atlanta. This exhibition debuts a new body of work, including his recent series of eight oil paintings commissioned by SCAD for the permanent collection that emphasizes the ornamental in nature and dress. In these paintings, Knowles depicts young women lazing in shallow picture planes of flower fields and hillsides where boldly printed sundresses and decorative bangles bring them into intense focus.

SCAD's exhibitions department presents "Ever Present and in Motion," a juried show addressing the theme of change from the perspective of 15 faculty members from SCAD's Atlanta and Savannah locations. The faculty employed their creative interpretations of this theme to inform new art projects in all media. The resulting exhibition, therefore, highlights the range of intellectual and artistic activity within the SCAD community. Artists include: Steve Aishman, Robert Brown, Michael Chaney, Pei-Jung Chen, Dominique Elliott, Stephen Gardner, Sari Gilbert, Hilary Hopkins, Christopher Nitsche, Deb Oden, Brett Osborn, Jesse Payne, Ming Tang, Elizabeth Turk and John Waters.
