"Early American" Exhibition by Sharon Core
Trois Gallery, 1600 Peachtree St., Atlanta, Ga.
The exhibitions department presents "Early American," a series of still life photographs by artist Sharon Core based on the paintings of early 19th-century still life painter Raphaelle Peale. In her work, Core engages the concept of illusionism central to the genre of still life and upends the notion of trompe l'oeil by attempting to create a photograph that appears to be a painting. This exhibition is free and open to the public. Visit www.scadexhibitions.com.

"I Live Within You" Exhibition and Artist Talk by Youssef Nabil
ACA Gallery of SCAD, Woodruff Arts Center, 1280 Peachtree St., Atlanta, Ga.
The exhibitions department presents "I Live Within You," an exhibition of alluring, hand-colored photographs by Cairo-born artist, Youssef Nabil. Focusing on three unique but interconnected series, the exhibition brings together images that span more than 15 years of the artist's production. "I Live Within You" includes intimate portraits of notable artists, writers, actors and filmmakers; glamorously staged cinematic stills; and haunting self-portraits. The collective imagery reflects Nabil's longing to displace time and immortalize his encounters via the seductive tropes of classical cinema. The exhibition is held in conjunction with Atlanta Celebrates Photography. Artist talk: Oct. 8, 6:30 p.m. Held in conjunction with the SCAD-Atlanta gallery hop. The exhibition and artist talk are free and open to the public. For more information, visit www.scadexhibitions.com.
