The Savannah College of Art and Design presents the annual Sidewalk Arts Festival Saturday, April 25. This popular event features a chalk drawing competition on the sidewalks of Savannah's centerpiece, beautiful Forsyth Park. Drawing competition entries will be judged and awarded prizes. The event also includes food, children's and youth areas for young artists, as well as music throughout the day.

Admission is free and open to the public. The chalk competition features categories for students, alumni and prospective students.

Throughout the weekend, special events are offered for alumni, prospective students and families of current SCAD students.


High School Student Information

The high school student competition is open to high school juniors and seniors. Prizes are awarded to top competitors.

To register, visit the admission tent in Forsyth Park. Registration begins at 11 a.m.

Judges

Fernanda Cohen is vice president of the illustration conference ICON6. She conducts a lecture series at the Society of Illustrators of New York and teaches a core class in the undergraduate illustration program of the School of Visual Arts.

Peter Giffen is the editor of Applied Arts Magazine, Canada's premier magazine of visual communications. The magazine's six yearly issues include two references-the Photography and Illustration Annual (July) and the Design and Advertising Annual (November).

Ed Murrieta is senior creative director of character art for Cartoon Network's Trade Creative Services, which is the art department for the network. He works closely with show creators and animation staff in developing creative assets and branding shows for the network.
