April 16-17, 2009
Savannah, Ga.

Sponsored by the Savannah College of Art and Design and now in its fifth year, the Game Developers eXchange brings together game developers, educators and students with game development experts who share their behind-the-scenes knowledge of the game industry. Participants choose from a variety of sessions in which professionals share what goes into the creation of games. GDX 2009 will emphasize emerging models of play, design, production and distribution. For more information, e-mail GDX.

GDX includes four tracks:
  • Game Art focuses on the purely aesthetic angle of game development. Sessions range from concept art to the importance of a traditional art education.
  • Game Design focuses on such components as rules, system design, prototyping and immersion. Game writers chime in with the importance of story, setting and theme.
  • Level Design, a perfect nexus between the Game Art and Game Design tracks, focuses on building great game worlds.
